Kenneth Chang

Kenneth Chang is a Los Angeles-based emerging filmmaker whose work blends grounded storytelling with subversive, genre-bending horror. Raised in Koreatown, he grew up immersed in both Korean church and diverse public schools—an upbringing that exposed him early to layered identities and storytelling forms. Thanks to his mom, Kenneth explored film, choir, orchestra, Tae Kwon Do and synchronized swimming (Yes), eventually landing with film. He co-wrote/co-directed an award-winning short, Refuse about a demonized Korean addict living in a church basement which premiered at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival and earned him the Emerging Filmmaker Award at the Windrider Summit. Kenneth’s stories explore faith and communal resilience, often locating the divine within flawed characters. He is currently developing his first feature film, continuing his pursuit of theological, emotionally rich horror as his core cinematic language.
