Veronica Frans

Veronica is an ecologist and science communicator, currently positioned as a Stanford Science Fellow and National Science Foundation Postdoctoral Research Fellow at Stanford University. She holds a Ph.D. with dual majors in Fisheries and Wildlife and Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior. Specializing in coupled human and natural systems, she studies human-wildlife relationships across local to global scales. She aims to enhance ecological theories and methods for conservation and sustainability. Originally from Spanish Harlem, New York City, her research has taken her around the world—from as far north as Alaska’s Bering Sea to as far south as the Falkland Islands. She often engages with diverse communities and speaks six languages. Her award-winning research has been featured in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Smithsonian Magazine. As a science communicator, she is a Voice for the BioLogos Speakers Bureau and serves as Vice President of Christian Women in Science, an affiliate group of the American Scientific Affiliation.
