Pranay Mathur

Pranay Mathur is an Indian-American filmmaker from Omaha, Nebraska, and a recent graduate of the University of Southern California. His passion for filmmaking began in middle school, when he started writing short screenplays and filming sketches on his camcorder. Since then, Pranay has honed his craft as a writer-director, gravitating toward stories shaped by his cultural identity and the people who influenced him. His recent film Royal Foot Guards screened at Academy Award–qualifying festivals including the Indy Shorts International Film Festival and the Santa Fe International Film Festival, and he is the recipient of the Holle Award for Excellence in Filmmaking. Through his work, he aims to create films that blend humor with emotional honesty, fostering genuine connections with audiences through stories drawn from lived experience.
