Ryan Patch
Ryan Patch is a writer and director who specializes in emotionally grounded storytelling infused with genre elements. Raised in rural Colorado, Ryan cut his storytelling teeth around campfires before attending NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts for his Film Production degree, followed by earning a Master’s in Screenwriting from Royal Holloway, University of London.
For over a decade, Ryan created compelling documentary and branded content for nonprofits and foundations worldwide. His projects have included feature-length documentaries highlighting the transformative impact of inmate-led churches in Brazilian prisons, faith-inspired entrepreneurial efforts, and effective models for positive civic and political engagement. These projects were funded by The Templeton Foundation, Murdoch Trust, and Kern Family Foundation.
He has produced media for organizations addressing urban poverty, oral Bible storytelling, rural leadership networks, criminal justice and anti-recidivism initiatives, social entrepreneurship, and anti-corruption activism—consistently emphasizing the importance of individual empowerment, community-led solutions, and faith-based resilience.
These years spent documenting real-world stories—combined with Ryan’s experience living and working in Washington, DC —gave him a firsthand understanding of the complex issues and personal challenges people face in the U.S. and globally, and he now works to engage these elements into his narrative storytelling in compelling, thrilling ways.
Ryan’s narrative work spans features, shorts, and immersive audio, distinguished by strong performances, precise visual style, and thoughtful engagement with genre storytelling. He is currently developing CORROSION, a political thriller exploring the challenges of corruption and the importance of integrity within America’s financial and legal systems, and is in pre-production for his debut feature HALF WAY DOWN, a tightly-contained psychological thriller set on a farm.
Ryan’s recent projects include the sci-fi short film REGULATION (starring Sunita Mani), which premiered at over two dozen festivals and was acquired by Gunpowder & Sky’s DUST, and the hit narrative podcast CITY OF GHOSTS, acquired by Realm Media and optioned for television by eOne/Lionsgate. He is represented by CAA.
